Save our Voles
The native water vole, once common in Britain, has over the last few decades suffered a catastrophic decline. This is largely thanks to human activity destroying wetland ecosystems and our not-so-clever introduction of the American mink to the British Isles.
Thankfully, conservation programmes up and down the country are actively protecting water voles by providing specific habitats for them, raising awareness and controlling mink numbers. An upside to our downside perhaps!
Green Man
We came across this fantastic carving by Andy O’Neill during a walk in the picturesque Golden Valley of Gloucestershire. The 6 metre sculpture was created from an old tree that was due to be chopped down.
